We are seeking a British Columbia Professional Land Surveyor or Land Surveyor in Training to join the Butler Sundvick team.

Office - Geomatics Technologist

We have an opening in our Surrey office for a Geomatics Technologist with a background in legal, construction and engineering surveys.

The successful candidate will be highly motivated and capable of performing survey calculations, GPS processing and CAD.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree or Diploma from a recognized Geomatics program
  • Familiar with survey calculations and survey related software, such as AutoCAD, Microsurvey, Leica Geo Office and Survey Link
  • Knowledge of drafting methods, plan preparation and drawing presentation

Survey Assistant

We are seeking a Survey Assistant for a variety of survey projects.

This position will require the completion of numerous survey related duties, including:

  • Clearing foliage and other obstacles from transit lines
  • Taking linear measurements with steel tape or chain
  • Cutting, driving and marking posts and stakes
  • Locating and uncovering survey pins
  • Assisting and establishing lines and grading using level, rod, flag, tape, and plumbob
  • Assisting in preparation of field notes, sketches, cut sheets and survey computations
  • Locating and compiling legal plans and other survey documents as directed
  • Assisting with making and/or checking calculations
  • Preparation of plans and maps involving the correlations and plotting of UTM coordinates (with supervision)

Our ideal candidate for this position should have:

  • Completed a 2-year Diploma of Technology program in Geomatics or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Working knowledge of legal surveying and engineering principles and procedures
  • Elementary trigonometry and other mathematics (asset but not mandatory)
  • Ability to make elementary arithmetic calculations
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License

Field - Geomatics Technologist

We have an opening in our Surrey office for a Geomatics Technologist (Party Chief) with a background in legal, construction and engineering surveys.

The successful candidate will be highly motivated and capable of managing a field survey crew. Candidate will be required to perform survey computations and GPS processing.

Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree or Diploma from a recognized Geomatics program
  • Knowledge of total station, GPS and spirit level operations and procedures
  • Familiar with Tripod Data Systems (TDS) hand held data collectors
  • Excellent communication, organization and technical skills
  • Team player with great interpersonal skills
